Dear Parent / Guardian

Free School Meals Letter

fsm form b1

We want to make sure we are providing your child with the best education and support we can. Healthy school food has obvious benefits and can help pupils establish healthy habits for life. Healthy school food can also help to improve pupils’ readiness to learn.
Families who receive certain benefits may be eligible for FREE school meals. From April 2018 your child is eligible for FREE school meals if you are in receipt of one of the following benefits:-

Type of Benefit

  • Income Support
  • Income related Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income based Employment Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
  • Universal Credit with a net household income of £7400.00 per annum (£616.16 net per month)

Eventually, all the benefits in yellow above will be replaced by Universal Credit by March 2022.

Registering for FREE meals raises funding for the school which supports our childrens’ education. This additional money is available from central Government for every child whose parent is receiving one of the benefits listed above.
