Careers education and guidance makes a major contribution to preparing young people for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. At Christ the King Catholic High School and Sixth Form Centre there is a planned progressive programme of activities that supports young people when choosing 14 – 19 pathways and beyond, that suits their interests and abilities and enables them to plan their career and sustain employability throughout their working lives.
Careers education starts in Year 7 and continues through to Year 13. The planned programme is delivered through Guidance lessons and is enhanced with:
- regular focussed careers talks given by invited professionals,
- careers carousels where pupils get to talk to many different people about their careers
- face to face interview with an impartial careers adviser
