How we are keeping the school safe
We are doing everything possible to minimise contacts and mixing of year groups while delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.
The overarching principle we have applied is to reduce the number of contacts between children and staff. This can be achieved through keeping year groups separate and through maintain distance between pupils and staff.
Each year group has the following:
- A designated set of classrooms called a POD
- A designated entry and exit point into the school building
- A designated entry and exit point onto the school site
- A year group specific Science laboratory
- A year group specific IT room
- A separate outdoor social space at lunch and break
- A designated dining area
- A designated toilet block and cubicles
Other strategies that we are using to reduce the number of contacts and mixing of year groups
- Staggered start and finish time
- Staggered lunch time
- Staggered break and form time
- All pupils wear face coverings in indoor communal areas such as corridors
- All staff wear face coverings in indoor communal areas and outdoor spaces such as the yard
- Clear signage and barriers around school to avoid mixing of pupils
- Screens fitted in specialist rooms such as ICT suites where pupils are facing each other
- Outdoor waiting areas for pupils moving to specialist facilities such as Science, PE and Computing
- Hand sanitizer stations in all rooms and entry/ exit points
- Pupils wear their PE kit when they have PE on their timetable to avoid mixing in changing rooms
