Key Stages 4 and 5 Homework & Independent Learning

In KS4, students will typically receive a piece of homework for each subject on a weekly or fortnightly basis and are expected to spend approximately an hour completing this work.

In KS5 there will be an expectation that there should be approximately 3-4 hours of study per week by subject.

In addition to the formal work they receive from their teachers, students are expected to revisit their classwork in order to consolidate their school based learning, to engage in wider reading/research and to revise for periodic assessments such as mid or end of module tests, mock examinations and keyword tests. Prior to these formal assessments and examinations, students are expected to conduct a structured programme of revision to practise the skills required for external examinations. Testing provides a useful progress indicator for both teacher and student if revision has taken place. Misconceptions and gaps in learning may be identified and intervention can take place.
