It is concerned with things that vary in size from atoms to galaxies and tries to answer the questions – ‘How does it work?’ and ‘Why does it work?’. At its most fundamental, Physics concerns itself with the laws and phenomena that govern nature itself.

    Politics

    Government and Politics is the study of the means by which we govern ourselves and how the institutions of our democracy function. The course is designed to encourage interest and enthusiasm in to political beliefs central to an understanding of the world. This course will provide a structured foundation of political knowledge with an emphasis on contemporary politics and an opportunity to eventually specialise in one chosen area.

      Psychology

      Psychology is the science of mind, behaviour and experience. It is a relatively new discipline which encompasses a wide range of approaches to understand different behaviours. We teach you a number of the main approaches to provide them with an insight into the discipline as a whole and to develop a greater understanding of their own behaviour in a variety of contexts

        Philosophy & Ethics

        Philosophy and Ethics is a respected subject at all universities and colleges in the UK. It is accepted for a wide range of careers including teaching, law, medicine, social work, business and management and personnel work as well as others.

          Sociology

          Sociology is the study of how society is organised and how we experience life. The subject has formed the basis of ground-breaking research into major social issues, such as poverty and crime. Many sociological ideas, such as a ‘moral panic’ and charisma, are now in everyday use and the subject raises many questions concerning how people live their lives, such as ‘how important is the job that you do for your sense of self and your future?” or, “Are national governments able to ensure that most people have a job and will they be supported with health and social care when they need it?” The subject explores a wide range of issues, including education, the changing roles of women in society, how national statistics are used and how sociologists conduct meaningful research.

            Sport & PE

            This course is for students who really enjoy both the practical and theory side of PE lessons. Students who opt for this course will be interested in employment in the sports and leisure industry and/ or for those who wish progress to further education and/or as a basis to lead to higher qualifications and training in careers in PE, sport and leisure.

            The BTEC is equivalent to one GCE A Level.Alternatively, you are also able to study for the ALevel qualification in Physical Education.
