Personal development is an essential key to success throughout life at CTK6. We offer a wide range of personal development opportunities from extra-curricular groups such as ‘Cooking for Uni’ to trips, revision conferences and valuable experiences with both local and national employers. We have a strong careers programme and exploit all opportunities for our students to get involved and experience new things.
Our students also study towards an Extended Project qualification in combination with Ethics and Values (General RE). This qualification will not only allow them to achieve additional UCAS points, but the EPQ provides further academic stretch and challenge alongside A Level/Level 3 studies and also helps to evidence a genuine interest in a specific area (which is useful for UCAS university applications). Completing an EPQ helps students develop a number of different skills which are vital for university, debating, critical thinking and employment. It requires excellent organisational skills and students also develop good time-management skills. Students therefore have to assign their own time to complete the project each week while juggling the demands of A Levels/Level 3 qualifications. Students will research ‘A moral issue’ supported by their EPQ and RE tutor and present a final project for assessment during Year 13.
You can be assured that whatever it is you want to do, be or wherever it is you want to go, you will leave CTK6 with the skill set you need to do it. One of our key strengths as a smaller Sixth Form is the ability to have a flexible approach to personal development, tailoring our programme to meet the needs of our students.
